I’m Ikhifa Michael Mosuwaifo, and my love for tigernuts spans over three decades. My journey with this ancient superfood began in Benin City, Edo State Nigeria when my mother brought some home from the market. As a child with a sweet tooth, I was instantly drawn to its creamy, naturally sweet taste.
Over time, as I explored the deep connection between food and well-being, I delved into the nutritional power of tigernuts. My growing awareness of their benefits ignited a passion to share their goodness with the world, starting in my new home, Canada.
While living in Nigeria, founder Michael Mosuwaifo was involved in tiger nut milk production and sales. He worked with every aspect of the tiger nut supply chain, from farm to finished product. With House of Tigernut, he ensures every supply chain link reflects his values of balance and fair trade.
This includes sourcing chufa nuts from Nigerian farmers at fair market prices, using the highest quality ingredients, ensuring products are preservative- and additive-free, locally producing and bottling his tiger nut products in Colborne, and storing them in a commercial kitchen in Mississauga.
House of Tigernut is proud to be a part of the Canadian food industry and excited to help create a healthy and sustainable industry going forward. The result is a product you can enjoy on every level.
They are an ancient superfood rich in insoluble fiber, protein, iron, magnesium, potassium, and essential amino acids like arginine and oleic acid. I believe in the philosophy that “food can be our medicine and medicine our food.” Incorporating tigernuts into our daily diet is not just about nourishment, it’s about reconnecting with nature and honouring the wisdom of traditional foods.
At the heart of this journey lies a deeper truth: food connects us to our origins, to the land, and ultimately, to LUCA; the Last Universal Common Ancestor.
Every natural, unprocessed food carries the essence of life’s beginning, a lineage of sustenance passed down through generations. When we consume organic, whole foods like tigernuts, we are not just feeding our bodies; we are engaging in an ancestral practice, tapping into the fundamental link that unites all living beings.
Food carries stories, memories, and knowledge that transcend generations. As tigernuts make their way from farm to table, they bring with them a deep history; one that we are committed to preserving.
At House of Tigernut, we proudly support Nigerian farmers, advocate for fair trade, and ensure that the tigernuts we share remain fresh, natural, and ethically sourced.
Our mission is to introduce this nutrient-dense superfood to more people across Canada and beyond while maintaining the integrity of its origins.
Through House of Tigernut, we are not just offering a product; we are building a movement, one that celebrates sustainable farming, honours cultural heritage, and promotes mindful nutrition.
Join us in discovering the power of tigernuts and reconnecting with the land, our health, and the wisdom of ancient foods, an unbroken thread that links us back to the very essence of life itself.
